Rathmullan  is a mecca for watersports enthusiasts. Swimming, sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding are popular local activities.  There are two charter boats based at the pier that offer sea angling trips and also sightseeing trips on Lough Swilly. Fishing from the pier is also popular. During the summer season you can take a tour of the local  Kinnegar Brewery. Fine dining can be enjoyed at the Cook and Gardener Restaurant in Rathmullan House. Also at Rathmullan House is the Taproom in the Cellar Bar which specialises in Pizzas and local Kinnegar Beers. The scenic 9 hole Otway Golf Club is 4km away and the superb Portsalon golf Club is a 25 minute drive.

Wild Atlantic Way

Rathmullan is located along Irelands Wild Atlantic Way and there are some spectacular coastal drives in the region around the village. To the north lies the ruggedly beautiful Fanad Peninsula which has some of the finest beaches in Donegal.  At the tip of the Peninsula is the iconic Fanad Head Lighthouse - a Signature Point on the Wild Atlantic Way. The lighthouse is now open to the public during the holiday season.

Rathmullan is just 25minute drive away from Letterkenny  – Co Donegals main town. Letterkenny itself has a 5 screen cinema, indoor play centres, a karting centre, a superb modern leisure centre, two landscaped urban parks with playgrounds, An Grianan Theatre, the Regional Cultural Centre, the Donegal County Museum, a golf course and a wide variety of shopping and restaurants.  There is literally something for all the family and much of it is not weather dependent.
The magnificent Glenveagh National Park is a 30 minute drive from the holiday home.
Located in the Derryveagh Mountains, Glenveagh is the jewel in the crown of Donegal tourism. This magnificent park contains 14,000 hectares of lakes, mountains, bogland and woodland as well as a Scottish style castle and formal gardens
