Below is an aerial view of Rathmullan showing the pier, marina, 2km of sandy beach, Lough Swilly and the Inishowen Peninsula to the upper right. Rathmullan Holiday Homes are situated in a quiet wooded site 300m from the village and 300m from the beach. This is an ideal location for unwinding and exploring the many hidden delights of Co. Donegal. Up here it's different.
It was from this spot that the last of the great Irish Chieftains left their homeland forever, a pivotal event in Irish history now known as The Flight of the Earls. An Interpretive Centre in the centre of the village explains in a colourful and lively way the story of this great event.
Today Rathmullan is the perfect location to 'get away from it all'. With it's wonderful beach and wooded hillsides you can relax and enjoy the quieter pace of life that is characteristic of the smaller Irish village. If you prefer a more active holiday the village offers, deep-sea angling boats to charter, a new equestrian centre, and the nearby Portsalon Golf Club. Details of these can be found on our links page.
Local restaurants include The Weeping Elm at Rathmullan House Hotel and Belle's Kitchen

Rathmullan and #3 are both wonderful. The internet site portrayed your lovely lodging just as it is (not often the case) and we were overjoyed. It has every amenity one needs to relax and we enjoyed them all. Thanks for giving us such a great place to stay in this picturesque area. We also recommend the drives to Inishowen's coastal area as well as to Bunglass by Teelin and out to Malin Mor. Nice walks and incredible beaches with semi-precious stones.
